What it does
It reconciles the subledgers (accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax and bank) with the general ledger. For each exception it shows a suggested action, an analysis and a rationale, and lets you resolve several at once by grouping them. Actions include creating an adjusting entry, matching items, accepting as is (for example, rounding differences) or reversing an entry. The last action can be undone by giving a reason. The 2026 plan adds more precise matching (1-to-1, 1-to-many and many-to-many), fuzzy-logic and tolerance rules, bulk actions, MCP integration and the inventory subledger.
Reported result or impact
Microsoft does not publish savings figures in these sources. It does make clear that the goal is to move from guided automation to an increasingly autonomous reconciliation orchestrator, and that future features (fixed assets, projects, intercompany) remain in the plan and may change.
Mind the evidence. A communication from the vendor itself or from a news outlet about a launch. It describes what the product promises, not verified results.
How to replicate it
In Dynamics 365 Finance, open the Account reconciliation workspace, enable reconciliation per module and set a start date after the periods you already reconciled by hand. The automatic process runs every six hours by default and can be adjusted. Start with a single module and a single legal entity, review the agent’s suggestions before submitting bulk actions and check that the entries created carry the justification comment. Verify your Finance version (the documentation mentions improvements in 10.0.46) and availability in your region.
What to keep in mind
- The documentation itself states that part of what the release plan describes had not been released at the time of writing and that dates may change.
- The agent proposes and the person confirms: bulk resolution actions ask for explicit confirmation before they are submitted.
- The MCP support announced for the agent aims to let it coordinate with other systems, but we have not seen documentation of specific cases.
